At 4pm local time on Tuesday, the Greenpeace ship illegally left port without authorisation and blocked the 225m bulk carrier Hellenic Sea.

Using an inflatable boat, protestors climbed onto the side of the ship and unfurled a Target Climate Change banner. Another protestor has attached herself to the anchor chain of the Rainbow Warrior.

Sailors on the Hellenic Sea reportedly turned high-pressure hoses on Greenpeace protestors boarding the ship.

Police arrested the Greenpeace members.

The Rainbow Warrior has been on a six-week publicity tour around the country promoting its climate change campaign, pushing to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the country by 30% by 2020.
