According to conference chairman Naj Aziz, this year’s conference – to be held February 12-13 – is gearing up to be an exciting event.

 

Topics to be covered include various issues pertinent to the modern coal mining operations including roadway development, longwall mining and ground control, strata reinforcement, mine gases and outburst control, and mine ventilation.

 

Besides the long list of highly respected Australian presenters, international speakers will also be represented with papers on coal mining operations in the US, New Zealand, Iran, India, Turkey and Kazakhstan.

 

International interest has already been attracted with delegates from China, India, Iran, Kazakhstan and the UK to attend this year’s event.

 

The conference is jointly organised by the University of Wollongong-Mining Group, AusIMM’s Illawarra Branch and Mine Managers Association of Australia.
