According to an April 14 filing by the company with the US Securities and Exchange Commission, an unnamed electrician at Consol’s Blacksville No. 2 operation in Monongalia County was standing on the horizontal forks of a forklift that were elevated about 48 inches above ground level and were about 12in from a steel cage gate and power structure.

“The electrician was removed from the forklift immediately [and] the order was terminated just minutes after it was issued,” the company said of the April 11 incident.

No injuries were reported as a result of the condition.

Consol did not release any further public statement on the event.

Imminent danger orders are issued by the Mine Safety and Health Administration under section 107(a) of the Federal Mine Safety and Health Act, also known as the Mine Act.

Section 1503 of the Dodd-Frank Wall Street and Consumer Protection Act, amended last July, requires disclosure of all imminent danger incidents as part of new reporting requirements regarding mine safety.

Blacksville, a longwall operation which extracts from the Pittsburgh 8 seam, is one of 18 active complexes Consol operates in six US states.
