The underground research requirements include areas of health and safety, management of mining conditions, higher productivity mining and reliability of equipment and mining systems.

Short proposals are due by May 21 with successful applicants that move to the second stage notified July 25. Full proposals are then due September 10 with funding announced mid-December.
