Mine technology suppliers Mine Site Technologies and AeroScout have integrated their products to produce a safer, more accurate tracking device for Beltana’s employees.
All of Beltana’s workers wear Australia-based MST’s Integrated Communications Cap Lamps when they are underground.
MST has integrated California-based AeroScout’s Active RFID tags into the battery packs of its cap lamps, so their location can be tracked over the mine’s Wi-Fi network.
The real-time location of every worker can be viewed on a map using AeroScout’s MobileView software, which also allows users to search for the location of specific workers at any given time.
Xstrata will use the integrated cap lamps to track 200 workers underground.
The miner will also use self-contained tags based on AeroScout’s T2 intrinsically safe tags to track 50 diesel vehicles throughout Beltana.
Mine Site Technologies is a provider of mining communications and AeroScout provides tracking and monitoring solutions for mines, including Unified Asset Visibility solutions.
