Through the program, mining associates get practical minesite experience and registered training as part of CQUniversity’s Associate Degree of Engineering (Mining).

Mining associates also have practical opportunities to support mining professionals in areas such as mine planning, coal quality management, surveying, environmental monitoring and site projects.

Under the new agreement, a working group will be established to oversee and monitor the program which is available to any applicants who meet the entry requirements.

ACA human resources regional manager Paul White said the partnership with the university enabled Anglo to offer potential employees employment and development opportunities.

"This is about future-proofing our business by bringing through young professionals," White said.

"The program has been an extremely effective mechanism for us to attract quality candidates regionally.

"The first four mining associates to complete the program graduated on April 24, 2009, and all are employed locally at Anglo Coal mines in Central Queensland."
