Dräger Safety said the Oxy 6000 Self-Rescuer was designed to ensure maximum reliability and efficiency in an emergency.

Dräger Safety product marketing co-coordinator Jason Harb said the rescuer was not only suited for underground use but was also compatible with environments that did not allow filter self-rescuers to provide adequate protection due to a lack of oxygen.

“The Oxy 6000 has a rated duration of 60 minutes in accordance with MDG 3609 so it is suited to Australia’s underground coal mining market as well as any other mine application,” Harb said.

The unit, which has survived harsh mining environment testing, offers a ten-year maintenance-free lifetime.

Harb credited the system’s sustainability to its double-cased design, which has shock absorption and crush zone protection.

Dräger will also use AIMEX to promote its D-7000 quick fill station, which can be used in an emergency escape situation without disconnecting the breathing supply or exchanging cylinders.

Dräger Safety will be at stand H1162 during AIMEX from September 6-9.
