US CAPP coal spot prices on the rise

The barged CAPP coal June contract was assessed at $63.50/t – the highest level for the front-month barge contract since late February.

CAPP coal barged in June traded at $63.25/t for five barges and at $63.50/t for another five barges.

Monday’s assessment was the highest since February 27, which closed at $63.65/t.

Third and fourth quarter 2014 prices also closed higher, increasing 50c/t and 15c/t respectively.

Last Friday, back-half 2014 prices rose to their highest levels since March 26.
