The work scope includes building a new billion-cubic-foot full-containment LNG storage tank plus start up and commissioning of the new LNG facility.

"This is an important project for the region and we will draw upon our global LNG experience to safely and successfully expand the Tilbury facility," Bechtel oil, gas and chemicals president Jack Futcher said.

"We are looking forward to working with FortisBC to deliver needed energy to the people of British Columbia."

The project will add 46,000 cubic metres of LNG storage and lift liquefaction capacity to 1,740 cubic metres per day.

Construction is targeting completion in November 2016. Bechtel did not reveal the value of the EPC contract.
