Under the collaboration, Snowden’s operational improvement system, Reconcilor, powered by Cisco will help operations drive productivity in the face of cost pressures, according to Snowden.
In an event held in Brisbane to coincide with the Austmine 2015 conference, Cisco and Snowden announced the basis for their solution to an audience comprising miners, technology providers and independent experts.
“This audience, which itself was testament to the industry searching for new ways to add value through innovation, recognised how this collaboration was uniquely positioned to deliver real and tangible value to mining operations,” Snowden said.
“With the solution available in-cloud or on-premise, the demonstrated results from case studies place operations that adopt this opportunity in good stead to succeed.”
In the current economic climate all mining operations, especially those under pressure to reduce costs while increasing productivity, are facing major challenges, according to Snowden.
Principal among these is the challenge to get more from existing investments.
Whether it is investment in resourcing or systems, mining companies must actively demonstrate pursuit of cost-efficiencies and operational improvement in order to maximise the value of their mineral assets.
“In many cases, although cutting resourcing (personnel) drives costs down, it requires those companies to seek innovative technology solutions to minimise the risk of losing operational experience and relative competitiveness,” Snowden said.
“In these circumstances with limited capital, it is critical to have solutions available that clearly define where issues exist in the mining chain and outline contextual prompts to action.”
