SEW-EURODRIVE, headquartered in Bruchsal, Germany, hopes its presence at AIMEX at Sydney Showgrounds in September will be a booster for its sister companies within the region and help it identify potential customers.

The global company designs, develops and manufactures mechanical power transmission systems and motor control electronics.

Its broad spectrum of integrated solutions includes gear motors and gear units, high torque industrial gear units, high-efficiency motors, electronic frequency inverters and servo drive systems and decentralised drive systems, plus engineered solutions and after-sales technical support/training.

The German firm has a presence across 48 countries, which includes 14 production plants and 79 drive technology centres, with over 16,000 employees around the world – 550 of whom are involved in research and development to develop solutions that help customers optimise their processes.

At AIMEX, the company will launch the X Series mixer/agitator gear unit, which is suited for mixers and agitators, particularly those in the mining industry. It is also suited for surface aerators in water treatment applications.

SEW-EURODRIVE will also launch the PX series of planetary-bevel helical gear unit, which is suited for apron and belt feeders and bucket wheel reclaimers.

Locals will also appreciate the company’s launch of the Australian-assembled XS range (torque 6.8 to 45kNm) suited for conveyor drives in the 20 to 100 kilowatt ranges.

A SEW-EURODRIVE plant can be found across all parts of the Asia-Pacific region, with SEW China making up the largest industrial gears market in any country.

SEW-EURODRIVE Australia’s industrial gears products manager Ian Tribe said the company chose to exhibit at AIMEX to showcase its extensive product and service offering for the mining industry.

“The robust products we exhibit are global products engineered from the company’s headquarters in Germany, and then assembled locally to meet customer specifications and requirements,” Tribe said.

SEW-EURODRIVE’s Australian division is headquartered in Melbourne, supported by a network of offices in Sydney, Brisbane, Townsville, Rockhampton, Adelaide and Perth. It also has a comprehensive assembly, service and technical support centre in Melbourne, which is complemented by service and technical offices in all mainland states.

“SEW Australia also offers extensive knowhow and product adaptations for mining customers,” Tribe said.

“For example, recently, we successfully supplied four 1.25 megawatt drives for an iron ore project in WA bringing our total installations in Australia with gearboxes larger than 1MW to 36.
