Metallurgical coal production was 2.6% higher than the previous quarter and steaming coal production was 14.5% higher than the previous quarter.
For the 12 months to 30 September 2015, metallurgical coal production increased by 0.5% to 9,145,000t and steaming coal production decreased by 6.4% to 3,286,000t.
Overburden removal for the quarter ended 30 September 2015 was 13.5% lower than the previous quarter.
Wesfarmers’ share of coal production at its Bengalla mine in New South Wales for the quarter was 814,000t, 14.6% above the previous quarter due to operating in a more productive section of the mining sequence.
For the 12 months to 30 September 2015, Wesfarmers’ share of coal production decreased by 3.3% to 3,285,000t.
