It will supply Shanxi Jincheng Coal Group with 12 of its 3.35MW J620 gas engines for an expansion of a coal mine methane gas-fuelled power plant at the Chengzhuang coal mine in Jincheng, Shanxi province.

The project is supporting the country’s efforts to reduce the environmental impacts of coal production.

When the 40MW expansion is completed in 2016, the entire gas engine power plant will generate a total of 58MW of on-site power that will be sold to the local grid.

By capturing the mine’s methane-rich gas to produce the on-site power less of the potent greenhouse gas is free to escape into the atmosphere.

The first phase of the power plant features nine older gas engines from another supplier.
