The incidents occurred in the Shaanxi Province and Chongqing Municipality. Officials said the Shaanxi mine, which flooded on Friday, contained 15 miners after seven were pulled out at the time of flooding, Dow Jones reported.

More than 10,000 cubic meters of water had been pumped out of the mine by Monday, however water continued to leak back into the mine, Xinhua said.

The other tragedy occurred earlier in the week on Wednesday, when a water leakage caused by random digging by workers in a nearby old coal mine trapped another 19 miners, China Daily said.
