The Bowen Basin Symposium, October 12-14 at Rydges Capricorn Resort, occurs only once every five years. Jointly run by the Bowen Basin Geologists Group (BBGG) and the Geological Society of Australia's Coal Geology Group, the Queensland symposium is recognised as a benchmark event for coal geology.

The symposium will look at what will shape new directions in coming years and how the discipline of geology will be changed and enhanced as a result.

The two-day event will feature a mix of presentations, poster papers, trade exhibitions and workshops.

Presentations will cover coal quality, exploration, mining geology, geophysics, geotechnical and gas.
