West Virginia Office of Miners’ Health, Safety and Training officials told ILN late Thursday that it received a report of an outage at the Brody operation in Bim while no workers were underground.

US Mine Safety and Health Administration spokeswoman Amy Louviere later confirmed that local utility Appalachian Power had a 7200-volt power line collapse near the Wells complex, which neighbors the Brody operation.

“Most of the mines in that area have not worked today,” she said.

Power was expected to be restored Friday, but no further information was received by press time.

No injuries were reported as a result of the outage.
