The station has been designed to be about half the size and weight of equivalent machines, and features a boltless door.
Traditionally when repairs are required on the unit, an operator would have to unscrew all the bolts, however, the boltless door allows the operator to simply open the unit with a handle and slide the power contractor modules in and out.
The unit’s electrical components and the enclosure have been IECex approved.
The switchgear has power bus technology and plug connections with four module slots, which have their own disconnecting and earthing device.
Two separate compartments have been combined into a single unit with the power buses of both housing capable of being supplied via various sources. Connection can be established by connecting the compartment with cable leads or via plug connectors.
The 3.3kV unit has been designed for the longwall, but Becker also has a 1kV model being approved.
