The new Meadville location is the firm’s first entry into Pennsylvania, and was opened to further service its clients in the Appalachia region.
S&J already has six offices in West Virginia as well as one in Ohio and one in Kentucky.
It is planning a second Pennsylvania office in the Southpointe business complex in Canonsburg, near Pittsburgh, later this year.
With the addition of CWSS, the firm’s energy team – which concentrates on coal, oil and gas and renewables – now includes approximately 190 attorneys and paraprofessionals to service Appalachian energy clients nationwide.
Some of those services include acquisitions and divestitures, due diligence reviews, litigation, land use challenges, financing and permitting, among other things.
“Establishing a physical presence in Pennsylvania was a natural decision for our firm, as our energy team comprises one of the largest and most diverse practices in the region,” chief executive officer Susan Brewer said.
S&J also services the litigation, labor and employment sectors.
