Started by Brian Wilson in a Tasmanian garden shed 19 years ago, initially to supply a single West Coast mine, MineCom has grown to become a leading manufacturer of underground electronics and communications equipment.

Today, MineCom manufactures a range of specialised, in some cases unique, electronics and communications products for mines around the world.

The deal brings several benefits to the Tasmanian equipment supplier, including increased R&D funding that will allow MineCom to develop new specialised products for the mining sector.

MineCom will retain its own name and identity and will continue to operate from its Devonport factory.

Wilson continues on in the role of managing director and will be concentrating on business development with responsibility for exports.

“MineCom are an innovative company with an enviable reputation and extremely loyal customer base, in what is often a hard-to-crack market sector,” said David Gallagher, TR’s communications manager.

“Their joining TR certainly helps us in our plan to provide a one-stop shop for the resources sector and puts us in a fantastic position. We believe many mining companies and contractors will find our extensive capabilities very appealing. After all, how many suppliers can offer so many world-class technology brands and expertise under one roof?”

Best known for its specialist rental company TechRentals, the company began an aggressive expansion plan in 2005, strategically acquiring several well-regarded niche technology companies to form the TR Corporation.

TR Corporation’s brands also include TR Telecom, Bearcom, TR Vidcom and TR Services.
