Davis, most recently the mine’s superintendent of operations, is now the general manager of Colorado operations. The new position gives him executive responsibility for the mine near Steamboat Springs in northwestern Colorado.

Reporting to Midwest and Colorado group executive Charles Meintjes, Davis will also oversee the development of any future operations and reserves across the state for Peabody.

"Jason brings a great depth of surface and underground mining knowledge, as well engineering and safety experience gained in coal regions across the United States," Meintjes said of the 10-year company veteran.

Davis has also been a project engineer for continuous improvement for Peabody's Midwest operations; production supervisor and project engineer at former Peabody operations in western Kentucky; and mining engineer at former company mines in West Virginia.

Sollars, who has more than two decades of mining experience at the Twentymile complex, will replace Davis as superintendent. He was most recently assistant superintendent of operations, and he has also held engineering, production and maintenance roles across the operation.

The 450-worker Twentymile mine, one of the nation’s largest operations, shipped 7.8 million tons of low-sulfur steam coal in 2009.
