The move to establish Custom Fluid Power Training is expected to yield significant synergies with the company’s hydraulic solutions business.

Custom chief executive Mark O’Leary recently presented employees Will Lane and Jake Rosolen with their certificates.

“Will and Jake started with the company as apprentices at our Emerald branch,” O’Leary said. “To see them achieve this qualification was an honour.”

“The RTO provides us with an opportunity to not only educate our own people, but all people in industries that come into contact with fluid power systems and equipment.

“This in turn increases the safety of people working with fluid power, something that is of top priority to our organisation.”

The range of training packages offered are MDG41-compliant and aligned to national standards.

All the courses are designed around the workplace and include competency-based assessment on performing actual tasks.

The course offerings target various skill levels from cleanskins through to apprentices and engineers.

Risks relating to potential high-pressure hydraulic fluid injuries at longwall mines can be difficult to mitigate.

Such injuries have occurred during scheduled maintenance and when fitters have followed existing isolation procedures.
