Lane joined the council two years ago as its education and training director.

Throughout his time with the QRC he has expanded the Queensland Minerals and Energy Academy and acted in the chief executive role while the incumbent Michael Roche was on leave.

Lane joined the QRC from the Queensland Department of Employment and Training and was also involved in the development of the Mining Industry Skills Centre.

QRC’s new role will include strategic policy development as well as high level representational responsibilities.

QRC chief executive Michael Roche was enthusiastic about the new position and said Lane was perfectly suited to the role.
