Griffin worker injured in coal fire

A WORKER was airlifted to hospital last night after suffering burns at Griffin Coal's trial coal ...

The fire, which was quickly extinguished by the company’s emergency response team, resulted in one injury and the evacuation of two other workers yesterday afternoon.

The company said today no information was currently available on the cause of the fire.

A full investigation into the incident’s cause has been launched and all safety authorities have been notified.

Officers from the Department of Consumer and Employment Protection’s Resource Safety Division are expected onsite today.
