The company said recently the system was loaded onto a port boat and sent to the purchaser, Advanced Mining Technologies.

AMT is a contract miner for Singareni Collieries near Hyderabad.

“This system incorporates all of our latest technologies relative to steep dip mining while preserving the core designs that have created the Addcar legacy of reliability and productivity,” Addcar president Johnny Sturgill said.

The miner has a launch vehicle footprint of 95 feet by 26ft, 37 conveyor cars with 48in belts measuring a total length of 40ft, and a 54in belt stacker.

Also included is a Joy 12 CM continuous miner, guidance system, and a connectivity package. It has been designed to reach penetration depth of 1,400ft and cut at a height of 5-15ft at the operation.

Annual capacity for the miner is 2Mt, and its maximum down dip yield is 16 degrees.

AMT traveled to the US in April and May to receive hands-on training for the machine at an Addcar mining operation. The group also participated in the system’s final assembly and testing.

An Addcar training team will now travel to India in September and October, when it will erect and commission the miner system and provide training.

Officials for the OEM said 38 trucks were needed to haul the system to the Savannah port, where they were loaded onto the BBC Asia oceanliner. Just 25% of the cargo space was taken up by the highwall miner.

“We look forward to getting the bits in the coal in India and for highwall mining to become an integral part of the Indian coal mining industry,” AMT managing director NVS Rao said.
