In December, Monterey Coal Company – an ExxonMobil affiliate – ordered an AFC system including three class 45 CSTs, PF 5-line pans, M45 drives, stage loader, crusher and belt tail piece.

Monterey also placed a purchase order in January for an EL 2000 shearer, to be the first of this generation shearer to be in service in the US market.

The EL2000 was designed for low- and medium-seam applications where every cm2 of undermachine clearance is critical, DBT said.

“It has the slimmest available machine body to maximize coal clearance capacity. With 2 x 500 kW (50 Hz) installed cutting power and 2 x 100 kW AC haulage power, it is the most powerful shearer in its class.

“At the start of 2003 DBT only had two shearers in service in the US. This order – combined with other confirmed orders – will increase this number to five by August 2003, putting DBT well on its way to achieving its US market share goal,” DBT said.
