The company said Michael Sutherlin had joined the company as executive vice president and president of the Joy Mining Machinery division. This followed a global search to replace retired president Wayne Hunnel.

Sutherlin previously worked for Varco International, a provider of equipment and services to industrial customers, primarily in the energy industry.
