The event, sponsored by a handful of companies including Halliburton, is the seventh annual gathering that focuses on technical, financial and regulatory topics surrounding coal mine methane (CMM) and coal bed methane (CBM) development, the company said. It also touts the conference as an international networking opportunity for guests.

“Coal is both the source and reservoir of coalbed methane and coal mine methane,” Strategic Research said.

“CBM and CMM have become a valuable part of our nation’s energy portfolio, demonstrated by the fact that the United States is the second largest emitter of coal mine methane and second largest producer of coal after China.”

Under discussion will be issues including recovery and utilization developments for SBM and CMM, the state of the market and the opportunity for CMM and CBM , opportunities in India , economic optimization of CMM’s use, project management for CBM water management, and advances in CBM exploration, drilling and fracture stimulation technologies.
