Stanmore estimates the project’s operating costs using an owner mining model and ex-royalty of $A76.14 per tonne of coal free on board, the company said in a presentation to analysts.

The project boasts competitive ROM strip ratio averages of 6.1bcm per tonne.

The Range’s feasibility study is complete for a 5 million tonne per annum open cut export thermal coal mine over 25 years. Its product will be a high-energy, low-emission thermal coal sought in Asia.

The mining lease is on track for Q1 CY2014 and an infrastructure solution has been defined.

“[There is] no further expenditure required until rail and port infrastructure is committed,” it said.
