Queensland Trade Minister John Mickel said India represented huge potential for mining service providers and technology business touting India’s forecast growth and demand for coking coal as a foothold for the local mining industry to expand its trade.

“The booming Indian economy has created increased demand for coking coal, necessary for India to sustain the huge growth of its industry and population,” Mickel said.

“A number of state governments in India are offering investment incentives to private sector firms to develop mineral processing facilities and this means major opportunities for Queensland.”

Export Week runs from Monday October 13 to Friday October 17 with events running across the state.

Exhibitions held from Mackay and Townsville to Toowoomba will host international government trade and investment commissioners who aim to help businesses target export markets.

The export week will feature displays and information from government and export service providers such as the Australian Industry Group, Austrade, Commerce Queensland and Trade Queensland's Overseas Market Development teams.

The Queensland government is heading to India on a trade mission next month and will visit India’s International Mining and Machinery Exhibition.
