RS20s features new control technology that allows communication at high speeds. Since RS20s retains the best of the RS20 shield automation features it can be integrated into existing RS20 faces with minimal operator retraining.

Dave Smith, Joy UK product manager (electronics) said one of the big differences between the older version and the new RS20s is in the slim unit design. The system is comprised of the 'mimic unit' and the microprocessor. The two units can now be located in the best possible position on the roof support. The ‘mimic’ for ease of operation and the microprocessor in a protected location.

"We had a few people round today who were confused about the small size of the unit but this is just the front part (mimic) which the operator gets to see. The main part - the microprocessor - is located in the back of the support where it 's well protected," Smith said.

Smith said a major improvement is the massive jump in technology, making the RS20s so much more powerful than RS20. We're building a system now that we know is going to last for 10-15 years.

Another advantage is the use of a common four- wire cable, interchangeable between all peripheral units.

Joy Australia plans to launch the RS20s control system to the Australian market at the AIMEX show in Sydney in September.
