Visitors to MINExpo 2004 will be treated to an audiovisual show starring DBT shields and illustrating the history of coal – from its formation to economic mining with DBT equipment. DBT shields are used in heights from 0.6m-6m and allow full automation of longwall operations.

DBT is also releasing its next version of the successful PMC (Programmable Mining Controls) and will display the new electrohydraulic shield control, a key component of full automation of the advancing longwall. The PMC supplements a modern control system for the intelligent drive systems called PMC-D (D for Drive) – which includes a visualization unit and a gateway unit for networking drive controls.

The new PMC controls communicate via fieldbus and – with the help of greater computing power – bring further improvement in control quality and enhanced diagnostics for CST (Controlled Start Transmission) drives.

The CST drive was developed jointly with Rockwell Automation Dodge for maximum drive power in extended longwalls and is now in service around the world. Visitors can see the top-of-the-range CST 65 conveyor drive with maximum 1900 HP for no-load motor start-up and synchronized AFC start-up under heavy load. Two face conveyor drive technology innovations are also on display.

The mid-seam EL 2000, DBT’s latest shearer and the latest Gleithobel plow system, the GH 42 will be on display. With a 42 mm chain and installed power of 2 x 1,080 HP for cutting, the plow is suitable for seams from 1 m to over 2 m, regardless of seam inclination or coal hardness.

DBT face conveyor line pans are also on display – including the top-of-the-line PF 6. A compact lightweight crusher featuring efficient horizontal flow technology and unattended operation is also exhibited.

Representing DBT’s range of crushers and breakers for all types of materials is a Feeder Breaker for breaking soft materials.

The Versatrac 650 shield hauler – a specially engineered ultra-heavy-duty machine capable of lifting and carrying up to 50 tons – makes its debut at MINExpo. The diesel-powered FBL 10 – a compact multifunctional vehicle built for maximum speed, power and carrying capacity – is also on show.

Other products on show include the low-maintenance high-productivity 488-6 Un-A-Trac battery scoop, high-capacity belt drives and systems and DBT’s proprietary high-molecular-weight polyethylene EXALON conveyor rolls.
