Still life in Cumnock

CUMNOCK Coal plans to squeeze the last bit of life out of its mining lease, announcing yesterday ...

Cumnock recently completed a review to determine whether viable mining options existed on its current lease area beyond completion of existing reserves – to be exhausted in late 2008 or early 2009.

The company has identified an opportunity under the CHPP which will be mined subject to obtaining a permit, negotiating an acceptable mining contract and securing a toll washing contract from a neighbouring operation to wash and rail the coal to port.

Beyond the identified resource the company said there were no other opportunities to economically extract further resources from the Cumnock lease.
