The Business Report said the mining company, which operates six coal mines in New South Wales and Queensland, is hoping to add to its portfolio, including the reopening of the Dartbrook coal mine.

Other projects on the agenda are Moranbah South, a joint venture with Exxaro Resources that has the capacity to produce 3.5–5Mtpa of metallurgical coal; the Grosvenor Coal Project, with an annual production potential of 4Mt; and the Saddlers Creek Project, potentially adding 13Mtpa to the company's production figures.

Dartbrook was closed down just last year with the company citing a string of financial obstacles encountered at the mine that made it no longer viable to continue production.

Anglo Coal Australia acting chief Neville Sneedon said ongoing bottleneck problems have forced the company to cut back on production and delay expansion plans, according to the Business Report.

Sneedon said of particular importance is the expansion of export capacity at the Dalrymple Bay Port, which is expected to reach 85Mtpa by 2009.
