The mine closed in January after strata conditions deteriorated. GPC will not be using the mine’s longwall equipment but will convert to bord and pillar mining.

Up to 110 workers will be employed to mine the coal and it is likely that they will be drawn from the roughly 200 workers who lost their jobs at the mine in January.
