Transport and Main Roads Minister Scott Emerson said the start of road and bridge repair work would be fast-tracked to improve safety and allow communities to start getting back to normal.

“The first package of repair work will focus on the Lockyer Valley, including repairs to Gatton-Esk Road Bridge over Lockyer Creek and roads around Laidley and Gatton,” Emerson said.

“As we complete the recovery task in other affected regions, we will release work programs to market.

“Local councils, engineering firms and construction companies should be on notice that we want this work underway as soon as possible.”

Information on the progress of work and the initial damage assessment carried out since the 2011 floods is available on the TMR website.
