The Coalview facility will produce various sizes of anthracite product from fine anthracite in partnership with current producers, many of which are located nearby.

Anthracite contains more fixed carbon than any other type of coal with the least amount of ash and volatile matter. The product can be used as a domestic fuel product, or for use in steam-electric power generation.

Coalview CEO Roger Fish said there were numerous producers in the Pennsylvania area that could benefit from the company’s technology.

“We are actively looking to work with local producers of anthracite where they have existing or legacy impoundments to process their fine coals,” Fish said.

Coalview expects to invest about $US50 million ($A53 million) into the Pennyslvania facility, according to Coalview executive director David Schwedel.

“This is a great opportunity to assist existing anthracite producers in the Pennsylvania area, and will positively affect employment in the area as we believe the project will impact more than 100 direct and indirect jobs in Pennsylvania,” Schwedel said.
