CFMEU NSW South Western district president Andy Honeysett told ICN that 49 of the job losses were for contractors, while 21 fulltime operators and 7 permanent staff, including supervisory roles, will be made redundant.

In the context of Glencore’s target of removing 15 million tonnes of annual export production in 2015, Honeysett said about 2Mt of production would disappear from Ulan West.

ICN is seeking comment from Glencore.
