The Climate Action Reserve is hosting “Carbon Offset Opportunities for Coal Mine Methane Projects” November 9 at the Marriot Cherry Spring Hill Suites in Morgantown, West Virginia, beginning at 9am local time.
Representatives from Consol Energy as well as Biothermica and Verdeo will present case studies, each providing a detailed overview of their respective coal mine methane projects in the US and the potential opportunities where other operators can become involved.
The workshop is also designed to familiarize the industry with the tools and opportunities available to mitigate risk and generate new revenue streams.
“CMM projects can provide mines with solid financial returns as well as help mitigate both environmental and safety concerns surrounding methane drainage and venting,” organizers said.
A roundtable discussion of mine methane protocol and other areas related to the topic will be held in the afternoon. The event is expected to adjourn by 3pm.
