Gemcom says Minex is designed to fully integrate all aspects of mining from exploration to rehabilitation and ensuring resources are evaluated accurately and mined efficiently, while improving productivity throughout the mining life cycle.
Gemcom product manager Andre Broodryk said the latest version, Minex 6.1, included an innovative underground mine design and reserves module.
“This module, which can be applied to any stratified deposit, enables mining engineers to quickly and easily create different mine design options and evaluate them accurately before committing resource production,” he said.
“Since the module is fully integrated with Minex’s other geology and mine planning tools, mining engineers can develop design options that take complex geological factors into consideration.”
Other added features to Minex 6.1 include advanced file management tools, claimed to save users time by providing greater control over the storage location and structure of project files.
Productivity improvements for users include the automation of commonly performed tasks through recording and playback scripting options.
In addition, the data interoperability upgrades support the import and export of AutoCAD 2010 files and have the ability to save all borehole data to CSV (comma separated value) files for archiving or transfer to other software programs.
The Canadian company’s clients include BHP Billiton, Codelco, DeBeers, Newmont Mining and Vale.
