The project will upgrade the Yeppen roundabout, build a higher bridge across the lagoon, upgrade the intersection between Upper Dawson Road and Jellicoe Street and make changes to the Port Curtis Road intersection.
Queensland’s Transport and Main Roads and AECOM have compiled the details of the project over the past 12 months and construction on the development is expected to start within the next couple of months.
The scope of work includes a slip lane for traffic entering Rockhampton from Gracemere, speed reduction curves at all roundabout approaches, expansion of the roundabout to two lanes between the Yeppen Bridge entry and Capricorn Highway exit, a 420m bridge downstream of the existing low-level structure and upgrades to existing intersections.
Contractors have until February 9 to submit bids.
The Queensland government expects the project to be open to traffic in early 2014.
