In its performance report on Monday, HVCCLT said in spite of the continued high seas and strong winds over the weekend, a number of coal vessels had been berthed and sailed.

The port is running about 1.9 million tonnes behind minimum throughput for the month, and HVCCLT said about 2.5Mt of capacity will be lost for June with 5.5Mt being shipped.

The group said it forecast a ship queue of 60 at the end of June, and expects the queue will exceed 70 vessels on a number of days over the next few weeks.

“Arrival forecasts for July have increased to 6.7Mt which is contributing to the queue estimate of 46 at the end of July,” HVCCLT said.
