Yesterday afternoon Newcastle Port Corporation CEO Gary Webb said winds up to 55 knots and heavy seas were expected to reach the Hunter coast overnight.
“The salvage team is aware of the impending weather conditions and is securing equipment aboard the vessel in readiness,” said Webb.
“The 22-member team will stay aboard the Pasha Bulker overnight with the view to recommencing their work tomorrow depending on weather conditions.”
Webb said the Pasha Bulker was standing up well under the current weather conditions.
Webb said most of the 69 ships waiting off Newcastle had moved away from the coastline because of the weather.
The Pasha Bulker was grounded just before 10am Friday, June 8 during gale force winds and high seas. The 22 crew were safely airlifted off the vessel the same day.
