The JV is seeking to export up to 560,000 tonnes of coal from the Coppabella and Moorvale mines through Abbot Point by the end of the current sales contract year ending March 31, 2008.

Macarthur Coal CEO Nicole Hollows said resuming exports at the port will supplement exports through Dalrymple Bay Coal Terminal, where coal producers have received significant cutbacks in export allocation for the balance of 2007.

“Macarthur Coal is seeking to maximise tonnage to customers during the ongoing period of port congestion at DBCT,” Hollows said.

The JV previously exported coal through Abbot Point during 2005 and 2006, but put the contract on hold in late 2006 while construction works were underway for the port expansion.
