Parker has been appointed managing director, taking over from founder Tim Prowse who will assume the role of technical director.
Parker has been a non-executive director with Norton since September 2006.
Prior to becoming involved with Norton, Parker spent four years with Felix where the company's market capitalisation grew from $A17 million to more than $500 million.
His major accomplishments at Felix included the expansion of the Yarranee Mine, development of the Minerva Coal Mine, the acquisition of White Mining and a major capital listing.
Norton currently produces from the Paddington Gold Mine at Kalgoorlie, Western Australia. Last year Norton also acquired the Mount Morgan Gold Project in Queensland.
Whilst the company's current main focus is gold, it also holds copper and coal tenements in Queensland and has an active exploration program.
