Rivers of Shame 2 focuses on the effects of longwall mining on rivers and creek beds in the drinking water catchment areas for Sydney Water.

External affairs general manager John Brannon told ABC Online that facts presented by environmental groups do not always tell all the details.

“There's a lot of misinformation being put out in the community, which is giving people, potentially, the wrong impression," he said.

Brannon said people in the community were not getting a balanced view of mining.

“They're not understanding what decisions are being made by mining companies around their environmental responsibilities," he said.
