Last week the coronial inquest into the death of the 33-year-old miner, who was working for mining contractor Walter Mining at the time, began at Mackay Magistrates Court.

The inquest is investigating the circumstances of Blee’s death.

The Construction, Forestry, Mining and Energy Union, which investigated the circumstances of the death, took a swipe at mine safety across Queensland, saying there had been a series of near misses and that one man had his pelvis smashed in a similar incident.

The inquest continues today.
