During the September quarter Northern Energy plans to short-list the steel and coking coal groups that submitted expressions of interest in the project and move towards a binding heads of agreement.
Meanwhile, Northern Energy has started an environmental management plan for Maryborough and is testing coking coal quality and washability.
The company envisages an opencut mine at Maryborough producing 200,000 saleable tonnes per annum of high quality coking coal for the export market.
At its Elimatta project Northern Energy completed an in-fill drilling program. It said it anticipated upgrading the resource in the September quarter.
At Yamala an in-fill drilling and seismic survey was completed over the initial mining area and it now expects to release a resource upgrade and mining study in the September quarter.
Northern Energy closed unchanged yesterday at $A1.50.
