The new NMA chairman will now be Rio Tinto mineral president and chief executive Gary Goldberg. Peabody chairman Greg Boyce will fill the seat of vice-chairman.

Heading up the board’s finance and audit committee will be Francis McAllister, who also serves as chairman and chief executive officer of Stillwater Mining Company.

Along with the operational leadership, the group also tapped four NMA senior management staff members as officers.

Hal Quinn was re-elected NMA president and chief executive, and group vice-president for finance and administration Roger Roberts was elected treasurer.

NMA vice-president of health and safety Bruce Watzman will be the board’s new secretary while Katie Sweeney, the association’s associate general counsel, was also elected as secretary.
