The 2008 skills centre training awards dinner, held last Friday, had winners from BHP Billiton, BHP Billiton Mitsubishi Alliance, Fenner Dunlop and Queensland Alumina.

The annual awards aim to recognise leadership in workforce development by companies, trainers, individuals and trainees in the mining industry.

MISC said the level of the 2008 entrants to the awards was extremely high.

The skills centre said this was a reflection of the level of commitment by the industry to learning and development.

MISC is a collaboration between the mining industry and the government towards the development of training initiatives in the industry.
