The blast occurred at the Duvanna mine in the east of the country, the Canadian Press reported.

The fatalities will be added to a growing list in Ukraine coal mines this year.

At the end of last year 100 miners were killed in a devastating blast at the Zasyadko underground coal mine. The accident was the country’s worst mining accident since Soviet rule.
